Disjointed systems and inefficiencies following 27 years of acquisitions

Their challenge
American Bath Group (ABG) manufactures a wide range of bathroom products and sells them through a broad portfolio of recognized brands.
After a series of acquisitions, ABG had 14 disjointed ERP systems, seven of which were at end-of-life. As a result, ABG struggled with:
• Inconsistent and inefficient manual processes
• Limited visibility into data and KPIs
• No consistency across systems and plants
• An inability to effectively integrate new acquisitions into their mixed-mode environment spanning discrete, lean, and process
In short, ABG’s status quo was unscalable and unsustainable, and they decided to implement a single system across their multiple facilities and brands.
Our solution
Although ABG was previously an unmanaged account, a mutual connection introduced us to them because of our success in the industry. Impressed with MCA Connect’s deep manufacturing expertise and proven success with multi-site companies, ABG chose us to lead the strategic multi-year implementation. Under our guidance, ABG determined Microsoft was the best fit for their needs over competitors SAP and Epicor. This was due to the manufacturing capabilities of Dynamics 365 and the industry-leading advantages of Microsoft’s Azure Cloud.
With funding support from the Microsoft Supply Chain Accelerate team, we delivered a Connected Blueprint™ for Supply Chain. Through it, our team quickly identified opportunities for improvement and developed a phased implementation approach to deliver tangible business outcomes at regular intervals.
To help ABG consolidate and standardize systems and processes across 40+ sites, we’ll implement:
Dynamics 365 Finance
Dynamics 365 Supply Chain
Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement
Power Platform
There’s also potential for Dynamics 365 Field Service and Customer Service and Azure analytics in future phases.
Microsoft programs leveraged: Supply Chain Accelerate, Business Applications/Catalyst, ECIF
Microsoft had not previously accounted for the fact that ABG had acquired a number of smaller companies and was now a nearly $2B company utilizing Microsoft productivity tools. After MCA Connect brought Microsoft into this large deal, Microsoft named ABG an SMC East account.
Expected Results
Estimated $883,000 in D365 licensing per year with a five-year contract.
After the implementations across all sites, ABG will be able to:
- Apply highly efficient processes leveraging best practices and automation
- Measure and improve using high-visibility KPIs with real-time data capture and collection
- Standardize processes and product costing while eliminating inefficient manual processes
- Achieve organizational agility with system flexibility to adapt to market and customer changes
