Their challenge

VSE Corp provides aftermarket services for aviation, fleet, federal, and defense industries. Their Energetics division specializes in clean energy consulting and uses EV and charging station data to provide clients with actionable insights around sustainability.

Operating under VSE, Energetics risks losing its IT department if the two companies ever diverge. To be proactive, Energetics’ leaders began looking for a partner to help them build and manage a new Azure Cloud environment without the support of a dedicated IT team. This environment needed to comply with SOC 2, a framework that ensures an organization’s security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and data privacy.

Familiar with our advanced analytics experience, Robert Jenkins, Microsoft Azure Data and AI Senior Specialist, Southeast Region SMC, introduced Energetics to the MCA Connect team. We demonstrated expertise in analytics and SOC 2 requirements, giving Energetics confidence in our ability to meet their unique needs.

Our solution

MCA Connect will support Energetics’ pursuit of a standalone Azure environment with:

• Setup, configuration, and deployment of new environment
• Three-year support contract for maintaining and monitoring Azure environment
• SOC 2 compliance strategy

Though we anticipate generating ACR from this deal, it’s too early to provide an accurate estimate.

Results

Last spring, MCA Connect began the Energetics project. We have completed the strategy and infrastructure work and are now providing ongoing enhancements and support, including ensuring uptime and handling new requests.

The project has enabled Energetics to set up a new environment and develop a secure and scalable solution for their ever-growing client base. With a SOC 2-compliant solution, they’re well-equipped to attract more customers and deliver valuable, insightful data to their customers without relying on resources and support from a parent company.

What’s next?

We are enhancing Energetics’ reporting and analytics capabilities and helping to support their goal of expanding nationwide. The company also plans to provide data and AI solutions on top of the Azure infrastructure we have built.
